Plainstamp on iPhone and iPad
The Plainstamp app for iPhone and iPad (coming soon to the App Store): signing in, notifications with Approve and Reject on the lock screen, and the camera.
A Plainstamp app for iPhone and iPad is coming soon to the App Store. It's the same Plainstamp you use in a browser, with its own icon, notifications that come from the app, and Approve and Reject right on the notification.
Everything you can do on the website you can do in the app, and new features show up in the app at the same time, without updating it.
Install the app#
On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store.
Search for Plainstamp.
Tap Get, then open Plainstamp from your Home Screen.
Sign in with the same account you use on the website:
Email and password: type them and tap Sign in.
Google or Microsoft: tap Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft. A secure sign-in sheet from Apple opens over the app. Sign in there, and you're back in Plainstamp, signed in.
Apple: if you see Sign in with Apple, you can use your Apple Account the same way. You can let Apple share your email or hide it (Plainstamp then gets a private relay address that forwards to you).
Apple doesn't share your name with Plainstamp, so the first time you open your workspace after signing in with Apple, a What's your name? box appears at the top. Type your name and tap Save, so your team sees it instead of your email address. If you tap Not now, you can add it later under Settings › General.
If your workspace uses two-step sign-in, enter the code from your authenticator app next. See Turn on two-step sign-in.
Turn on notifications#
Tap Settings, then the Notifications tab.
Under Notifications on this device, tap Turn on notifications.
When your iPhone or iPad asks if Plainstamp may send you notifications, tap Allow.
The panel then says On for this device. To stop them on this device only, tap Turn off on this device. What you get notifications about is set at the top of the same page, and works the same as on the website. See Turn on phone and desktop notifications.
Tapped "Don't Allow" by mistake?#
The panel then says notifications are turned off on this device. Open the iPhone or iPad Settings app, tap Plainstamp, then Notifications, and turn on Allow Notifications. Then go back to Settings › Notifications in Plainstamp.
Approve or reject from the lock screen#
When a request is waiting for you, you get a notification saying what it's for.
Tap the notification to open the request in Plainstamp.
Press and hold it (or swipe it left and tap View) to see Approve and Reject. Your iPhone asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode first, so nobody else can decide for you. A moment later, a notification confirms it was approved or rejected.
A request rejected from a notification shows "No reason given" to the person who sent it. To give a reason, open the request and reject it there. Approvals from a notification go through the same rules as in the app, so a request that already changed, or one you can't approve, is refused and you're asked to open Plainstamp.
Take photos of receipts and invoices#
Tap the round camera button in the bottom right corner to snap a receipt. Anywhere else Plainstamp asks for a file (for example, attaching a bill), you can choose Take Photo, pick from your Photo Library, or choose a file. The first time, your iPhone asks if Plainstamp may use the camera: tap Allow. If you said no, turn it on in the iPhone Settings app › Plainstamp › Camera. See Snap a receipt and let Plainstamp fill in the form.
Downloads, links and refreshing#
Spreadsheets and PDFs you download open the share sheet, so you can save them to Files, send them by email, or open them in another app.
Links to other websites open in Safari.
Pull down on a page to refresh it. If you're offline, the app says so and has a Try again button.
Your plan#
Owners and admins can see which plan the workspace is on, and how much of it you've used, under Plan & billing. There's nothing to buy in the app.
Signing out and deleting your account#
When you sign out in the app, that iPhone or iPad stops getting your notifications. Sign out is in the top right corner, next to the theme button.
Deleting the app doesn't delete your account; to do that, go to Settings › Sign-in & security › Delete my account. If you ever signed in with Apple, deleting your account also tells Apple to stop Sign in with Apple for Plainstamp. See Delete your account.
