Phone notifications aren't arriving

Turn on phone and desktop notifications for each device, fix a blocked browser, and get them working on iPhone.

Phone and desktop notifications tell you the moment something needs you, and you can approve or reject requests right from them. They're turned on per device: turning them on on your computer doesn't turn them on on your phone.

Turn them on for this device#

  1. On the phone or computer you want notified, open Plainstamp and sign in.

  2. Click Settings, then the Notifications tab.

  3. Under Phone and desktop notifications, click Turn on for this device.

  4. When your browser asks, choose Allow.

It now says On for this device. Below it you can see how many of your devices have notifications on.

Also check that Phone and desktop notifications is switched on under What Plainstamp tells you on the same page.

What the messages mean#

You seeWhat to do
"On iPhone and iPad: tap the Share button, choose Add to Home Screen…"On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work from the Home Screen app. In Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Open Plainstamp from the new icon, sign in, and come back to this page.
"This browser is blocking notifications from Plainstamp…"You said no when the browser asked. Open your browser's site settings for Plainstamp, set notifications to Allow, then come back and click Turn on for this device.
"This browser can't show notifications."Use Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
"Phone and desktop notifications aren't available right now. You'll still get emails and see everything on the Notifications page."Notifications from Plainstamp are switched off for the moment, on every device, so there's nothing to fix on your side. Your emails keep coming, and everything shows on the Notifications page. Try again later, or contact support if it lasts.

They were working, and stopped#

  • Did you sign out? Signing out turns off notifications on that device. Sign back in and turn them on again.

  • Did someone click "Turn off everywhere"? That turns them off on all your devices. Turn them on again on each one.

  • Check your phone's settings. Make sure notifications are allowed for your browser (or the Plainstamp Home Screen app) and that Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't hiding them.

  • Did your admin turn them off? Admins can set notification settings for their team. A note at the top of What Plainstamp tells you says so.

  • New phone or reinstalled the browser? Turn notifications on again on the new one.

You're never notified about your own actions. And everything also shows on the Notifications page, so you won't miss anything.
