My calendar isn't showing my tasks or changes
What to check when your tasks don't show in Google, Apple, Outlook or Samsung Calendar, or a change you made in Plainstamp hasn't come through yet.
If you've added your Plainstamp tasks to your calendar app and something looks wrong, it's usually one of the things below. First, the most common one: your calendar app hasn't checked for changes yet.
A change hasn't shown up yet#
Your calendar app doesn't get changes the moment you make them. It checks your Plainstamp link every so often, and you see changes the next time it checks:
| Calendar app | How often it usually checks |
|---|---|
| Apple Calendar | About every hour |
| Google Calendar (and Samsung Calendar, which gets it through Google) | Every several hours, sometimes most of a day |
| Outlook | Every few hours |
So a task you marked done, a new task, or a changed due date can take a while to show. Plainstamp itself is always up to date, so check the task there if you need to be sure. There's no button in Plainstamp to make your calendar app check sooner.
To speed things up:
Mac: in Calendar, choose View › Refresh Calendars. You can also right-click the Plainstamp calendar, choose Get Info, and set Auto-refresh to Every hour or more often.
Google Calendar and Outlook: there's no way to make them check sooner. Give them a few hours.
The calendar is there, but it's empty#
Check these in order:
Do your tasks have due dates? Only tasks with a due date go in the calendar. Tasks without one never show.
Are the tasks open? Tasks marked done drop off the calendar.
Are they yours? With Just tasks given to me, only tasks given to you are included, not tasks you added for someone else. Owners and admins can choose Every task in the workspace instead. See What's in your calendar.
Is it an old task? Tasks that were due more than 60 days ago aren't included.
Is your link still on? Go to Settings › Notifications › Your tasks in your calendar. If you see a Turn on button, your link is off (you, or someone using your account, turned it off). Turn it on and add the calendar again, because it's a new link.
Did you make a new link? When you click Make a new link, the old link stops working and that calendar goes empty. Remove the old Plainstamp calendar from your app and add the new link.
Is the workspace on the Small plan or up? Calendar sync comes with the Small plan and up. If the workspace moved back to Starter, or it's paused, calendar links show no tasks. See Plans: what each one includes and The workspace is paused.
Are you still in the workspace? If your account was turned off or removed from the workspace, your link stops showing tasks.
It's not showing on my phone#
Google Calendar on a phone: Google's phone app can't add a calendar from a link. Add it once on a computer at calendar.google.com, signed in with the same Google account as your phone. It then shows in the phone app. On Android, if it still doesn't show, open the Google Calendar app's menu, tap Settings, tap the Plainstamp calendar and turn on Sync.
Samsung Calendar: it gets the calendar through your Google account. Add it to Google Calendar first, then in Samsung Calendar open the menu › Manage calendars and make sure your Google account and the Plainstamp calendar are on. If it's still missing, in the phone's Settings › Accounts and backup › Manage accounts, tap your Google account › Sync account and turn on Calendar.
iPhone or iPad: a calendar you subscribe to on your Mac doesn't always come to your iPhone. Either add it on the iPhone too (tap Add to Apple Calendar in Plainstamp on the phone), or add it on the Mac with Location set to iCloud. Also open Calendar, tap Calendars at the bottom, and make sure the Plainstamp calendar is ticked.
A task I finished is still there#
Done tasks are removed the next time your calendar app checks your link. Wait for the next check (see the table above). If it's still there much later, check that the task really is marked done in Plainstamp, and that you're not looking at an old copy of the calendar from a link you've since replaced (look for two Plainstamp calendars in your app and remove the old one).
I changed the event in my calendar, but Plainstamp didn't change#
The calendar only goes one way: from Plainstamp to your calendar app. Moving or deleting an event in your calendar app doesn't change the task, and the next check puts it back the way it is in Plainstamp. Change the task in Plainstamp instead. See Edit or delete a task.
The dates are a day off#
Each task is an all-day event on its due date, using your workspace's time zone. If your calendar app is set to show a different time zone, check its settings. An owner or admin sets the workspace's time zone in Settings › General › Time zone.
I see two Plainstamp calendars#
You probably added it twice, or made a new link and added that too. Remove the older one. If you're in more than one Plainstamp workspace, each workspace you turned it on for is its own calendar, named after the workspace.
Someone else might have my link#
Anyone with your link can see the tasks in it. Go to Settings › Notifications › Your tasks in your calendar, click Make a new link and confirm. The old link stops working straight away. Then add the new link to your calendar app.
Still stuck?#
Follow the full setup steps again in See your tasks in your calendar. If it still doesn't work, contact support and tell us which calendar app you use (but don't send us your link).
