Turn on phone and desktop notifications
Get a notification on your phone or computer the moment something needs you, and approve or reject requests right from it.
Plainstamp can show a notification on your phone or computer the moment something needs you, like a request waiting for your approval, a new task or a mention. For requests, you can tap Approve or Reject right on the notification.
You turn notifications on separately on each phone or computer you use.
Turn them on for this device#
On the phone or computer you want notifications on, open Plainstamp and sign in.
In the menu, click Settings, then the Notifications tab.
Under Phone and desktop notifications, click Turn on for this device.

The Turn on for this device button Your browser asks if Plainstamp may show notifications. Click Allow.
You see "Notifications are on for this device," and the panel shows On for this device.
Repeat on every phone and computer where you want them.
Also check that Phone and desktop notifications is switched on under What Plainstamp tells you on the same page. That switch decides whether anything is sent to your devices at all.
Two more switches under it fine-tune what reaches your devices:
Phone notification for every new task: a notification each time someone gives you a task. Turn it off if you'd rather not be pinged for every task.
Morning phone notification: at 7am, a notification with your tasks for today and anything overdue, on days you have some.
Approve or reject from a notification#
When a request is waiting for you, the notification shows Approve and Reject buttons (where your phone or computer shows notification buttons).
Tap Approve or Reject. A second notification confirms it, for example "Approved".
Tap the notification itself to open the request in Plainstamp instead, for example to read the details or add a note first.
The same checks apply as in the app: you can only approve what you're allowed to approve. If it can't be done from the notification (for example you've been signed out, the request has changed since, or the notification is more than 3 days old), Plainstamp opens the request so you can decide there. There's no room to type a reason on a phone notification, so the person who sent a request you reject this way is told "No reason given". To give a reason, tap the notification to open the request and click Reject there, or use Reject on the Notifications page in Plainstamp, which asks for one.
Turn them off#
On one device: open Settings > Notifications on that device and click Turn off on this device.
On every device: click Turn off everywhere next to "Notifications are on for … devices in total."

On for this device, with Turn off on this device and Turn off everywhere Pause them all for a while: switch off Phone and desktop notifications under What Plainstamp tells you. Your devices stay set up, and nothing is sent until you switch it back on.
Signing out everywhere also stops notifications on all your devices. See Sign out, or sign out on every device.
Not getting notifications?#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "This browser is blocking notifications from Plainstamp." | You clicked Block at some point. Allow notifications for Plainstamp in your browser's site settings, then come back and click Turn on for this device. |
| "On iPhone and iPad: tap the Share button, choose Add to Home Screen…" | Add Plainstamp to your Home Screen and open it from there. See Use Plainstamp on iPhone or iPad. |
| "This browser can't show notifications." | Use Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. |
| "Phone and desktop notifications aren't available right now. You'll still get emails and see everything on the Notifications page." | Notifications to devices are switched off on Plainstamp's side for now, so there's no button to turn them on. Nothing is lost: you still get emails, and everything shows on the Notifications page. |
| "This device is already set up for someone else's account." | Someone else turned on notifications in this browser. Have them turn it off on this device first. |
| It says On for this device, but nothing arrives | Check the Phone and desktop notifications switch above is on, and that your phone or computer isn't in Do Not Disturb or Focus mode. Your admin may also have turned phone notifications off for you; you'll see a note at the top of the page if so. |
